The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Couture will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Furlong misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Furlong closes the distance and clinches up with Couture, looking for a takedown. Furlong pushes Couture against the cage but Couture circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
A head kick misses from Couture.

Furlong bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Furlong sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Couture is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Furlong is looking to take a break and control but Couture is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Furlong is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Couture has escaped the position, nice work there.
Furlong tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Couture controls Furlong momentarily but Furlong frees himself.
Furlong wants to control from the top but Couture keeps moving.
Furlong is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Couture is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Bruce Couture wasn't active enough on the ground.

Furlong fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Couture avoids it really well and circles away.

Couture closes the distance and clinches up with Furlong, looking for a takedown. Couture pushes Furlong against the cage but Furlong circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Furlong shoots in looking for a takedown but Couture manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Furlong's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Furlong has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Couture.

That was a close round but I would say that Edward Furlong will probably get the nod.

Couture swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Furlong counters with a three punch combo that has Couture backing up. Couture nods at Furlong to acknowledge the strikes.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Furlong maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Couture could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Furlong has cracked it and Couture is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Furlong!
