Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eric McKoy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alistair Overeem (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alistair Overeem acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Eric McKoy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Alistair Overeem!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Overeem tries to clinch up but McKoy circles away and keeps his distance.
Alistair Overeem seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Overeem closes the distance but McKoy moves to the side

and McKoy counters with a shoot takedown. Overeem fights it but they end up in guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
McKoy lands a couple of digs.
McKoy slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
McKoy lands some shots froms side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Overeem can't do much from the bottom here.
You can see the frustration on Overeem's face as McKoy controls the position.
McKoy has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

McKoy has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
McKoy throws a head kick that misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.

McKoy feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
McKoy connects with a couple of short punches.

McKoy stands up and waves to Overeem to follow him.
McKoy is looking to land body kicks.
McKoy throws a head kick but Overeem moves out of range.
Overeem throws a hook but McKoy blocks it.

McKoy shoots in and bounces Overeem off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

McKoy decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Overeem tries to clinch up

and McKoy counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Well, if McKoy is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
McKoy is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Overeem looks gassed!
McKoy pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

McKoy controlling from mount.
McKoy seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Overeem for as long as he can get away with.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

McKoy swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Overeem is now in McKoy's guard. A big mistake from McKoy there, giving up the dominant position!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Overeem closes the distance but McKoy moves to the side

so McKoy counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
McKoy stays in close to Overeem's body and controls the position.
McKoy postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
McKoy slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
McKoy has knee on belly and moves into mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McKoy controlling the pace for now.
McKoy looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.


It looks like Alistair Overeem has been cut.
Overeem is breathing heavily.
McKoy controlling from the full mount.

McKoy is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
McKoy falls off balance throwing a combination
letting Overeem counter with a right hand.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Overeem wants to clinch but McKoy slips to the side

and McKoy counters with a nice double leg into side control. Overeem won't be happy with that.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Overeem taking punishment in the form of punches.
McKoy is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Overeem will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Eric McKoy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Check out the look on McKoy's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
McKoy remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

McKoy stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Overeem closes the distance but McKoy moves to the side

and McKoy moves into the clinch.

McKoy breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

McKoy closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

McKoy tightens his grip and picks Overeem up, before dumping him to the ground. Overeem manages to land in guard.
McKoy is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
McKoy is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells McKoy's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
This has been an exciting period of action!
McKoy controls from within his opponent's guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Alistair Overeem's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



A momentary lapse in concentration from Overeem enables McKoy to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Overeem manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
McKoy throwing strikes from guard but Overeem blocks nicely.
McKoy slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Eric McKoy has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
McKoy shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Overeem leaves McKoy with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Overeem shoots in for a double leg but McKoy sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Overeem takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

McKoy shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
McKoy controlling the pace for now.
McKoy's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
McKoy is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Overeem can do to turn this around?

Overeem gets tackled into the cage by McKoy. McKoy maintains the clinch.

McKoy escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

McKoy closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Overeem's guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells McKoy's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Overeem being controlled here, momentarily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
McKoy passes easily into side control. Nice work.

And that's the end of the fight!
Eric McKoy showed his dominance in that final round.
Well McKoy has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
