The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monster shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Souza sprawls well. Souza wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Monster gets slowly back to his feet.
Souza lands a jab to Monster's midsection.

Monster closes the distance and pushes Souza back into the cage.
Monster changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Souza fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Souza throws a hook to the side of Monster's head but Monster sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Souza misses the jab.

Monster gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Souza cracks Monster with a right hand to the side of the head.
Souza connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Souza rushes Monster and presses him up against the cage.

Souza lands a hook that snaps the head of Monster backwards.
Monster with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Monster drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

It looks like Chuck Monster has been cut.
Monster goes for a takedown in the clinch but Souza prevents it.
Souza digs a right hand into Monster's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Monster's gas tank.

Monster goes for a takedown in the clinch but Souza prevents it.

Souza dips a shoulder and cracks Monster with a mighty uppercut! Monster falls back against the cage and Souza unloads with a barrage of strikes! Monster is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Souza screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!
