Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jimmy Buffet! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Hass! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hass shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Buffet is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hass trying to pass the guard but Buffet defending well. Buffet is trying to get back to full guard. Buffet is not content to let Hass control the position. Hass is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Buffet has managed to free his arm - good work. Hass wants to lay and pray for a moment but Buffet keeps working. Hass seems to be looking for submissions.
That's one minute gone in the round. Buffet makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Buffet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Buffet wants to sweep but no luck. Buffet is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Hass trying to control the position from guard on top but Buffet is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Buffet lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Hass! The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Hass is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Buffet is standing up, even though he is in mount. Buffet lands with a good body shot. Buffet connects with a body shot. Buffet displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hass. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Buffet. Hass shrugs it off though. Buffet connects with a crisp jab. Nice takedown defense from Buffet. No joy for Hass on that attempt. Buffet scores with a head kick.
It looks like Jack Hass has been cut. Hass shoots for a double leg takedown but Buffet sprawls well. He's pushed Hass's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Jimmy Buffet has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Hass. Hass looks gassed! Hass drops his hands momentarily and Buffet takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Nice straight punches there by Buffet. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Buffet. Hass misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Buffet lands an overhand right. Hass misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Buffet scores with a hook to the body. Hass takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Buffet leaves Hass with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Buffet with a hook. Nice jab there from Buffet.
Hass is rocked! Jimmy Buffet seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Buffet lands a brutal uppercut that launches Hass off his feet! Hass tumbles to the floor, barely conscious - the referee jumps in to save him from a beating! Wow, what an ending!
