Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lyoto Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and River Tam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tam has chosen Dangerous as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lyoto Rua! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, River Tam! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Matheus Silva and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tam feints a jab promting Rua to slip. Tam then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Rua slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Tam throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Rua throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Tam displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Rua. Tam tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Rua displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Tam throws out the jab. Rua keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Tam. Rua takes one on the button. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Tam tries to clinch but Rua moves away and Rua counters with an inside leg kick. Rua feints and then cracks Tam's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Tam down. Rua walks into a left hand. Rua attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Rua goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tam tries to clinch but Rua is having none of it. A clash of legs there as Tam blocks the low kick. Rua is looking to slow Tam down with leg kicks. Rua tries for a takedown but Tam sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Tam throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Rua closes this distance looking for a takedown but Tam circles away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lyoto Rua. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rua shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Tam as he jumps to the side. Rua looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Tam is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Rua's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Rua's back! Rua manages to reverse the position and now he's in Tam's guard. Nice work there by Rua.
Rua is in close to Tam's body, working some short punches and elbows.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rua stops Tam from standing up. Rua connects with a couple of short punches. Rua trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Tam not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Rua missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Rua working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Tam's head. Tam wants to get back to his feet but Rua is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Rua is standing up over Tam. Tam looks to escape but Rua dives into side control.
Rua is looking to take a break and control but Tam is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Rua tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Rua is working Tam over with some ground and pound from side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Tam's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Rua has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Rua controls the position. Rua throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Tam is looking for a sweep. Tam is trying to control Rua's posture but Rua avoids it. Tam bucks up and tries to throw Rua off but instead Rua has got his back! Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Rua.
Tam is trying to get back to his feet but Rua has full control of the position and if anything, Tam has just worked his way into a worse spot. Rua is landing with strikes. Tam can't take much more of this. Tam is trapped and Rua is scoring with shots to the head and body. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Tam is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Rua is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Rua gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Rua gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Rua apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Tam is rocked!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rua throws a big overhand right that connects, sending Tam tumbling to the canvas! Tam is still in real trouble! Can Rua finish him? The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rua arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Tam's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
