PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Qwerty Board (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Glass Joe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Joe's choice of entrance music: La Marseillaise. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Qwerty Board!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Glass Joe!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Dmitry Maklakov and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Joe.
Board shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Joe but Joe pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Joe tries a head kick but it misses.
Board misses with a straight left.
Joe is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Board shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Board tries for a takedown but Joe sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Qwerty Board. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Board looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Board working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Joe's head.
Joe working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Board.
Joe is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Joe is trying to hold Board in close to prevent damage but Board has managed to pass into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Board is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Joe defends it well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Board is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Joe is in trouble now - Board has advanced to mount!

Board looking to control but Joe is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Joe is wriggling around trying to escape.
Board controlling his opponent.
Board with the ground and pound from mount.
Board lands a heavy elbow.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Board takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Board fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Joe has left one of his arms exposed and Board doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Joe screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
