The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Phatu gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Middleton counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
It looks like Afa Phatu has been cut.
Middleton lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Phatu circles away quickly and effectively.
Afa Phatu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Phatu shoots and misses
and Middleton counters with a leg kick.
Phatu is breathing heavily.
Phatu shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Middleton counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Afa Phatu. That's going to take a lot out of him.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A decent looking body kick lands there for Middleton.
Middleton fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Middleton moves into the clinch.
Middleton breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Middleton escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Middleton has taken the fight to the clinch.
Middleton with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
Phatu is rocked!
Middleton throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Phatus head.
Oh Phatu is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Middleton is stalling here.
Middleton breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Middleton lands with a massive overhand right! Stick a fork in Phatu - he's out cold! Ermm... I think I just mixed my metaphors but yeah... That was a nice KO! Big win for Middleton!
