PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dean Polhamus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Molnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Molnar has chosen Thunder Rolls as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dean Polhamus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Robert Molnar!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Vladimir Khabensky and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Molnar works the jab nicely.


It looks like Dean Polhamus has been cut.
Polhamus looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Molnar takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Molnar has Polhamus up against the cage in a clinch.

Molnar has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Polhamus clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Molnar really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Polhamus.
Polhamus tries to break free.
Polhamus is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Molnar.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
It looks like Molnar might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Polhamus is trying to stand back up.
Molnar slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Robert Molnar wasn't active enough on the ground.
Polhamus tried to score with a low kick but Molnar checks it.
Polhamus fails in his attempt to clinch.
Molnar fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Polhamus is out of range.
Molnar lands a slapping body shot.
A bone on bone clash there as Polhamus blocks the leg kick.
Molnar scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Molnar manages to break the clinch.
Polhamus takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A left and a right from Molnar both land. Nice combination.

Molnar lands a nice shot that snaps Polhamus's head back.
Molnar feints a jab promting Polhamus to slip. Molnar then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Polhamus slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Polhamus gets tackled into the cage by Molnar. Molnar maintains the clinch.

Molnar breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Sloppy strikes from Molnar. Those never looked like landing.
A lazy left from Molnar finds it's target.

Molnar forces Polhamus back against the cage and clinches.

Molnar escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Molnar throws a low kick, looking for Polhamus's leg but Polhamus calmly moves out of range.
Molnar closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Molnar thuds a left hand into Polhamus's body.

Molnar shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Molnar decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Molnar throws a one two combo.

Molnar closes the distance and clinches.
Polhamus is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Molnar is defending well for now.

Molnar breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Polhamus tries to close the distance and clinch up but Molnar swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Molnar throws a right and a left that both miss.

Molnar breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Molnar darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Molnar tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Polhamus is looking for a sweep. Molnar is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Polhamus looking for submissions off his back.

Molnar stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Polhamus.
Robert Molnar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Molnar misses with a low kick.
Molnar wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Molnar is working the combinations to good effect here.
Polhamus wants to clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Molnar clinches up with Polhamus and pushes him back against the cage.
Molnar on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Molnar blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Molnar breaks from the clinch.
Molnar has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Molnar scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Molnar throws a nice looking combination but Polhamus bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Molnar throws a combination. Polhamus tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Molnar shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Polhamus napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Molnar stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Molnar swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Molnar throws a head kick that misses
and Polhamus counters with an inside leg kick.
A nice combination there by Molnar.
Polhamus looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Molnar throws a series of punches but Polhamus avoids them all with ease.
Polhamus is looking to clinch.
Left hook, right uppercut from Polhamus.
Polhamus doesn't manage to clinch there - Molnar circles away.
Molnar swinging wildly here.
Molnar fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Molnar dives in and scores a takedown into Polhamus's guard.
Molnar is looking to stand up but Polhamus won't let him.
Polhamus manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Polhamus can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Molnar is looking to escape.
Molnar really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Polhamus. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Polhamus unloads with some shots from mount but Molnar bucks and avoids them well.
Polhamus is looking to stand but Polhamus has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
Robert Molnar has got the better of the ground game so far.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Molnar is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Molnar is squirming around, avoiding Polhamus's attempts to control the action.
Polhamus tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.
Polhamus won't let Molnar get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Polhamus wants to get back to his feet but Molnar is holding on tight.
Polhamus looking to control but Molnar is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Polhamus gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Molnar feints and as Polhamus raises his hands in defense, Molnar changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Polhamus working for a triangle but Molnar defends it easily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Molnar is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Polhamus has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Molnar is looking to defend but Polhamus has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Molnar! Polhamus pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Molnar taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Dean Polhamus!
