Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Anthony John (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dracus Maximus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Anthony John has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Anthony John! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dracus Maximus! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Yves DeLean and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! John fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Maximus, pushing him back against the cage. John is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body. John is stalling here.
Maximus misses with a knee strike.
Maximus is working for takedown but John is calmly controlling the position for now. John drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Maximus gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Maximus wants to break free but John has control.

A nice right hand lands inside from John. John is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Maximus gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. John taking a breather. Maximus pulls guard effortlessly. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Maximus keeping full guard, as John tries to pass.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maximus trying to control the position.
Maximus keeping full guard, as John tries to pass. John wants to stand and escape but instead Maximus has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Maximus not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Let's hope that Maximus has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Dracus Maximus was stalling too much, according to the referee. A shot to the liver by Maximus. Beautiful body shot.
That's two minutes gone in the round. John looks for a takedown but Maximus sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anthony John. That's going to take a lot out of him. Maximus forces John back against the cage and clinches. John tries for a takedown but Maximus manages to get underhooks.
Come on John - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Maximus is trying to drag John to the mat but John just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. John's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Maximus feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. John is breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Maximus stays in close to John's body and controls the position. John wants to stand but Maximus is controlling the position. Maximus working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. John keeping full guard, as Maximus tries to pass. John keeping moving, preventing Maximus from controlling successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Dracus Maximus hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Maximus tries to score a power double leg takedown but John sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Maximus somewhat. Maximus looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for John! John is desperately trying to improve his position but Maximus has a good base and remains in mount. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Maximus manages to capitalize on a mistake by John to take his back! Maximus looking to hold on to the position here but John rolls and ends up regaining guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dracus Maximus dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Maximus swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Maximus's hands are dropping dangerously low here and John connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Maximus scrambles back to his feet. John is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Maximus tries to clinch and John counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Maximus keeping full guard, as John tries to pass. Maximus controls John momentarily but John frees himself.
That's one minute gone in the round. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Maximus keeping moving, preventing John from controlling successfully. John has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Dracus Maximus has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. A solid body kick from John. Maximus tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but John paws at him with a jab and circles away. Maximus dives in and grabs John's left leg, looking for a takedown. John pushes down on Maximus's head and hops out. Maximus is breathing heavily. John throws a sloppy head kick and Maximus moves out of range easily. Dracus Maximus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. John forces Maximus back against the cage and clinches. Maximus can't break the clinch.
John pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Maximus avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Anthony John is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Maximus tries to close the distance and clinch but John swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Maximus throws a sloppy head kick and John counters with a lovely straight right hand! Horrible takedown by Maximus or perhaps it was just good defense by John which made him look bad. John misses with a head kick.

Maximus shoots in but John avoids the takedown attempt easily. Anthony John has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dracus Maximus. John connects with a high kick.
That's three minutes gone in the round. John ducks under a wild hook from Maximus. John clinches up against the cage. John manages to break the clinch.
Maximus looks to clinch and John counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Maximus tries for a takedown but John circles away easily and John counters with a nice leg kick. Maximus stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Maximus wants it to stay on the feet. John defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Maximus. John fails with a takedown attempt. John closes this distance looking for a takedown but Maximus circles away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A head kick misses from John. Maximus throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around John's waist but John gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Maximus off to one side. John tries to close the distance and clinch but Maximus swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. John shoots in looking for a takedown but Maximus manages to keep the fight standing, pushing John's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Maximus is looking to clinch but John is avoiding it.

John shoots in for a takedown but Maximus shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Maximus lands with a good body shot. John moves in looking to clinch but Maximus pushes him off. John misses with a head kick.

John is trying hard to land a takedown here. Maximus sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Maximus fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Maximus changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. John tries to avoid it but Maximus manages to keep hold of a leg and drag John to the ground. John escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Maximus stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Maximus wants it to stay on the feet. A momentary lapse in concentration from John enables Maximus to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. John manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Maximus missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Maximus stands and steps away. John gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
That's two minutes gone in the round. John throws a shot from downtown. Maximus moves away and avoids it. Maximus fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. John throws a right hand that Maximus ducks under and follows up with a left that Maximus also avoids with ease. Maximus tries to clinch but John moves out of range. John closes the distance but Maximus moves to the side and Maximus counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Maximus content to stall in guard here. Maximus slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Maximus is working to tighten is grip on John's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. John has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Maximus is really squeezing tight and eventually John passes out! Maximus breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:40 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Dracus Maximus!
