Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Edson Gazzato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arthur Cartofell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cartofell comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Snow kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! On his way into the cage it seems that Edson Gazzato has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Edson Gazzato seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Arthur Cartofell! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Alexandre Firmino and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gazzato has his takedown stuffed and Cartofell counters with a big head kick but Gazzato shrugs it off. Gazzato fails with the takedown and Cartofell counters with a head kick. Gazzato really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Gazzato fails with the takedown and Cartofell makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Gazzato really felt that one! That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Edson Gazzato. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gazzato tries for a takedown but Cartofell circles away easily and Cartofell counters with a nice low kick that buckles Gazzato's knee momentarily. Cartofell fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Gazzato tries for a takedown but Cartofell circles away easily and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Gazzato has his takedown stuffed and Cartofell counters with a one-two to the body. Cartofell throws a quick inside leg kick. Gazzato misses with a takedown attempt and Cartofell counters with a leg kick. Gazzato with a poor takedown and Cartofell counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Gazzato is lucky that one didn't land flush. Gazzato is breathing heavily. Gazzato gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Cartofell counters with a good low kick that Gazzato was not able to check.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A head kick misses from Cartofell. Cartofell closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Gazzato's guard. Cartofell seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Cartofell tries to free his leg and advance position but Gazzato is retaining full guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Cartofell looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Arthur Cartofell. Cartofell throws a leg kick and Gazzato counters with a shoot takedown. Cartofell fights it but they end up in guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cartofell wants to sweep but no luck. Cartofell controlling Gazzato's posture. Gazzato throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cartofell works some decent striking defense from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cartofell keeping moving, preventing Gazzato from controlling successfully. Cartofell is pulling down on Gazzato's head. It's preventing any offense from Gazzato, at least for the moment. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Gazzato with a poor takedown and Cartofell counters with a flying knee. Nice. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Cartofell, right into the meat.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gazzato with a lazy takedown attempt and Cartofell counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Gazzato being controlled here, momentarily. Cartofell advances to half guard. Cartofell tries to pass the half guard into mount. Gazzato knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Cartofell is taking a breather. Gazzato says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Cartofell prevents Gazzato from improving his position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Cartofell keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cartofell closes the distance and pushes Gazzato back into the cage. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Cartofell manages to break the clinch.

Gazzato misses with a takedown attempt and Cartofell counters with a three punch combo that has Gazzato backing up. Gazzato nods at Cartofell to acknowledge the strikes. Edson Gazzato seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Cartofell stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gazzato swivels though and keeps the full guard. Cartofell is stalling in the full guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Cartofell's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cartofell advances position into side control! A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Cartofell really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gazzato. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. You can see the frustration on Gazzato's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Cartofell moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Cartofell landing a few strikes. Gazzato is letting Cartofell control him for a moment. Arthur Cartofell has got the better of the ground game so far.

Cartofell works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Gazzato wants to stand and escape but Cartofell is having none of it. Cartofell is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Cartofell advances position into side control! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Cartofell content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Let's hope that Cartofell has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Arthur Cartofell is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Cartofell keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Gazzato tries to roll over but Cartofell keeps him under control. Cartofell performing his best blanket impression for a moment. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The fight moves into the clinch position. Gazzato tries to score a body lock takedown but Cartofell shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Gazzato tries to stall but Cartofell uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Gazzato tries to circle away but Cartofell has him pinned against the cage. Cartofell has picked Gazzato up - he's going for a ride! Cartofell dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Cartofell is figuring out what he wants to do next. Edson Gazzato has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
And that's the end of the fight! Arthur Cartofell comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Cartofell has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Arthur Cartofell decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
