0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nick Abbate! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, George Francis and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Excellent takedown into side control there by Stuart. Abbate regains half guard. Abbate wants to get back to full guard. Stuart is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Abbate is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Stuart pulls his head out easily. Abbate wants to get back to full guard. Abbate slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Abbate looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Stuart looking to pass the guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Abbate avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stuart tries to free his leg and advance position but Abbate is retaining full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Stuart is breathing heavily. Stuart with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Abbate looking for a sweep. Not yet Abbate, not yet. Stuart is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Abbate looking for a guillotine here but Stuart defends easily.
Stuart working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Abbate has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Stuart doesn't defend quickly enough and Abbate has managed to lock this one up! Can Stuart escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Abbate on a fantastic submission victory.
