Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, King Penguin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Val Loko! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Paulo Santos and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A momentary lapse in concentration from Penguin enables Loko to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Penguin manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Loko looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Penguin is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Loko is controlling him. Loko decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Loko misses with a head kick.
Loko gets the takedown into side control. Loko working the ground and pound from side control. You can see the frustration on Penguin's face as Loko controls the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. It looks like Loko might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Penguin could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Loko is working to tighten is grip on Penguin's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Penguin has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Loko is really squeezing tight and eventually Penguin passes out! Loko breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Val Loko!
