Randale is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Darude - Sandstorm. Roger Randale has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Mike McCallum's chin.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Roger Randale!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Skip Squint and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Randale tries to close the distance and clinch but McCallum swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
McCallum keeps the fight on the outside.

Randale gets in close and instigates a clinch.

McCallum is trying to break the clinch but Randale has him pressed against the cage.
Randale utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
Randale is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but McCallum is keeping busy.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

McCallum looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Randale with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Randale really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McCallum. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

McCallum winds up and cracks Randale with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. McCallum connects with a nice short shot to Randale's temple.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

McCallum postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Randale looks a forlorn figure.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


McCallum fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Randale gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
McCallum wants to control from the top but Randale keeps moving.
Randale is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Mike McCallum overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Randale controls McCallum momentarily but McCallum frees himself.
