The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Rex has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Tapio can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Tapio sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Rex's guard.

Rex working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Tapio doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Tapio manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Rex is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Tapio is aware though and is defending well.

Rex throws a strike but Tapio rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Rex ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Rex no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Rex has his foot on Tapio's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Tapio works his way back into a safe position though.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Tapio drops back looking for a leg! Rex is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Rex manages to kick Tapio off! Tapio jumps back into Rex's guard.

Rex escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Tapio gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Rex is looking to sinch up a triangle. Tapio throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Rex's body to avoid the submission. Rex has instead reached around Tapio's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Rex arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
