Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Genma Saotome! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Toshi Antos! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yuuki Gou and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Saotome closes the distance looking to clinch and Antos counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Saotome! If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. BOOM! Antos connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Saotome slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Antos tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Saotome. Antos lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Saotome moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Saotome has his feet on Antos's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Saotome takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Antos throws a lazy right hand but Saotome sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Saotome displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Saotome wants to clinch but Antos slips to the side and Antos counters with a nice double leg into side control. Saotome won't be happy with that. Saotome sneaks back into half guard. Antos working the head and body with strikes.
Saotome is rocked!
That's one minute gone in the round. Antos tries to stand but can't do so whilst Saotome controls his leg. Saotome regains full guard. Nicely done. Saotome keeping moving, preventing Antos from controlling successfully. Saotome has his feet on Antos's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Antos looks gassed! Antos looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Saotome is fending him off so far but Antos persists. Nope, Saotome circles away and we're back to standing. Saotome will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Antos displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Saotome. Saotome changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Antos tries to avoid it but Saotome manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Antos to the ground. Antos escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Saotome fails with an attempt to clinch.

Saotome pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Antos back to the cage. Saotome follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Saotome has a takedown stuffed. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Genma Saotome. That's going to take a lot out of him. Saotome misses with a two punch combination.
Saotome tries to score a power double leg takedown but Antos sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Saotome somewhat. Antos keeps the fight on the outside. Antos throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Saotome stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Saotome shoots in for a takedown but Antos shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Antos dodges the punch combination from Saotome.
Saotome wants to clinch up but Antos keeps it at a distance.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Antos fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Saotome to the ground. Antos is now in Saotome's guard. Antos won't allow Saotome to sweep him here. Antos is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Antos makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Antos is looking to work some ground and pound but Saotome has wrist control. Antos is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Saotome pushes Antos off and gets back to his feet.
Saotome shoots in for a takedown but Antos shows good takedown defense. Antos gets a double leg takedown into Saotome's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Saotome lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Antos! Saotome trying to control but he's not successful this time. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Saotome is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Antos is surviving well by controlling Saotome's body position as best he can. Saotome trying to control but Antos is having none of it. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Antos is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Toshi Antos will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

and Antos counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Toshi Antos has got the better of the ground game so far. Antos wants to get up but he can't break Saotome's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Saotome keeping full guard, as Antos tries to pass. Saotome really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Antos would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Saotome pushes Antos off and gets back to his feet.
Genma Saotome seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Antos is breathing heavily. Saotome misses with a takedown and Antos decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Saotome's guard.

Antos is bucking up trying to escape but Saotome cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Saotome tries to control but Antos wriggling away. Antos is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Saotome locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Antos is forced to tap!
