Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Michael Sabin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derek Scarlatti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Michael Sabin ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Derek Scarlatti! The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Winston Howard and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Scarlatti is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Sabin 's half guard. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Sabin is trying to stand.
Scarlatti is figuring out what he wants to do next. Scarlatti passes to full mount! Sabin is wriggling around trying to escape.
Scarlatti content just to control the position here. It looks like Scarlatti might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sabin is trying desperately to improve position. Scarlatti landing strikes, looking to finish! Scarlatti is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Sabin can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Scarlatti pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Scarlatti scores with a couple of good head shots there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sabin is wriggling around trying to escape.
Scarlatti lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Scarlatti has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Scarlatti looking to control and managing it successfully. Sabin tries to reverse the position but Scarlatti maintains control. Scarlatti content just to control the position here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Scarlatti dominating with strikes here. Scarlatti tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Scarlatti lands a big elbow.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Scarlatti raining down hammerfists from mount. Scarlatti controlling the pace for now. Sabin is bucking up trying to escape but Scarlatti cracks him with another couple of good strikes. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Scarlatti fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Scarlatti takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Derek Scarlatti dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Sabin tries to clinch up. Sabin darts in trying to clinch and Scarlatti counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Sabin takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Derek Scarlatti is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Scarlatti darts in and clinches Sabin up against the cage. Sabin lands a nice elbow. Sabin tries to pull guard but Scarlatti won't allow it.

Scarlatti's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Michael Sabin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sabin tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Scarlatti counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Scarlatti breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Sabin closes the distance looking to clinch and Scarlatti counters with a series of strikes. Sabin will be more careful next time no doubt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Scarlatti rushes Sabin and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Sabin wants to get back to striking at distance but Scarlatti won't allow it.
Scarlatti misses with a body punch.
Sabin is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body. Sabin ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Sabin no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Scarlatti controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Sabin is trying to control the position but Scarlatti postures up. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Scarlatti stands and throws Sabin 's legs to the side, diving into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Scarlatti in side control lands a decent elbow. Sabin on the wrong end of some ground and pound. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Scarlatti is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Sabin will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The strikes coming from Scarlatti are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Scarlatti moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Derek Scarlatti. Scarlatti lands a nice shot to the body.
Sabin is looking to clinch. Scarlatti just misses with a punch to the body.
Scarlatti keeps the fight on the outside. Sabin tries to clinch but Scarlatti moves away and Scarlatti makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Sabin tries to clinch up but Scarlatti circles away and keeps his distance. Sabin tries to clinch there but Scarlatti circles away.
Scarlatti throws a low kick, looking for Sabin 's leg but Sabin calmly moves out of range. Sabin wants to clinch but Scarlatti slips to the side and Scarlatti counters with a one-two to the body. Scarlatti shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Scarlatti was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Scarlatti takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Derek Scarlatti showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!
Scarlatti swats away the attempt to clinch by Sabin . Sloppy strikes from Scarlatti. Those never looked like landing. Sabin tries to clinch but fails miserably and Scarlatti counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Scarlatti. Sabin letting Scarlatti take a breather here. Sabin utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body. Sabin misses with an elbow over the top. Sabin creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Scarlatti has had enough of the clinch but Sabin keeps him there for the moment. Sabin is defending well against a takedown attempt. Both fighters working to control the clinch. Scarlatti takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Scarlatti has picked Sabin up - he's going for a ride! Scarlatti dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Scarlatti trying to pass the guard but Sabin defending well.

Scarlatti not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Sabin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Scarlatti is working away from the top position though. Sabin is trying to get back to full guard. Scarlatti seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Scarlatti has closed the distance and engaged Sabin in a clinch.
Sabin prevents Scarlatti from breaking the clinch. Scarlatti trying to stall but Sabin improves his position.
Scarlatti wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Scarlatti drags the fight down to the ground.
Scarlatti wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Sabin manages to pass to side control. Sabin is stalling here. Scarlatti is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Sabin seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Scarlatti has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sabin wants to get back to his feet but Scarlatti drags him back down. Scarlatti working the ground and pound from side control. Scarlatti content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Scarlatti misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Sabin trying to remain calm as Scarlatti controls from the top position. Scarlatti cracks Sabin with a big elbow. Scarlatti misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Scarlatti is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Sabin knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Scarlatti takes a little break here. Sabin wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Michael Sabin has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Derek Scarlatti is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that's the end of the fight! Derek Scarlatti comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Scarlatti winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
