PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Brik Holtik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joey Snow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Snow has chosen country roads as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brik Holtik!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joey Snow!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Tiny Johnson and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Snow closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Holtik closes the distance and clinches up with Snow, looking for a takedown. Holtik pushes Snow against the cage but Snow circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Snow counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Snow shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Snow showed some decent athleticism there.

Holtik looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Snow trying to pass the guard but Holtik defending well.
The fighters are battling for position here. Holtik manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Holtik working for a triangle but Snow defends it easily.
Holtik will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Holtik is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Snow postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Snow postures up in Holtik's guard and throws a big left but Holtik blocks it.
Snow trying to control the position from guard on top but Holtik is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Snow is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Snow thows a big elbow that misses.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
No joy there for Snow, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Holtik moves into the clinch successfully.

Snow works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Holtik is pulling down on Snow's head. It's preventing any offense from Snow, at least for the moment.
Holtik has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Holtik trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Holtik keeping moving, preventing Snow from controlling successfully.
Holtik is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Snow rushes Holtik and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Holtik drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brik Holtik. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Snow swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Holtik prevents Snow from breaking the clinch.
Snow struggles to land a body shot inside as Holtik controls his hands.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Holtik turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Holtik is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Snow has escaped the position, nice work there.
Holtik trying to control the position but Snow is working away.

Holtik decides to stand up, so the ref orders Snow to his feet.
Snow misses with a combination
and Holtik counters with a series of strikes. Snow will be more careful next time no doubt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Holtik connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Holtik avoids a punch combination nicely.
Snow defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Holtik.

Holtik shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Snow has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Holtik is working away from the top position though.
Holtik passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Snow!
Holtik lands a heavy elbow.
Snow is looking to improve his position but Holtik isn't that keen on the idea.

Holtik has hold of Snow's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Snow manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Holtik has control of Snow's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Snow regains control of the situation pretty easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brik Holtik dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Holtik fails with a takedown attempt.
Snow looks to land a left hand but Holtik moved out of range nicely.
Holtik shoots for a takedown but Snow saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Snow misses with a head kick.
Holtik shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Snow sprawls well. Snow wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Holtik gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brik Holtik. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Holtik fails with a takedown attempt.
Holtik shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Snow but Snow pushes him off and we're back to square one.
A punch combination from Snow misses.

Horrible takedown by Holtik or perhaps it was just good defense by Snow which made him look bad.
Holtik fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Holtik blocks a jab.
Holtik shoots for a double leg takedown but Snow sprawls well. He's pushed Holtik's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Snow gets caught flat footed, as Holtik shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Holtik advances to half guard.

Holtik is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Snow tries to roll over but Holtik keeps him under control.

Holtik seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Snow is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:04 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Brik Holtik!
