PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tim Kennedy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ylo En (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tim Kennedy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ylo En!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Ivan Kurochkin and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

En darts in and clinches Kennedy up against the cage.
En looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Kennedy drags the fight down to the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
En trying to control the position from guard on top but Kennedy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kennedy looking for a sweep. Not yet Kennedy, not yet.
Kennedy lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for En!
Kennedy controlling the pace for now.
Kennedy will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Kennedy unloads with some shots from mount but En bucks and avoids them well.

En is trying desperately to improve position.
En really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kennedy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Kennedy throws the kick towards the body but En avoids it.

Kennedy darts in and clinches En up against the cage.
Kennedy keeps control of En as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
En is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Kennedy is defending well for now.

Kennedy works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Kennedy controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Kennedy wants to pass the guard but En is keeping the position.
Kennedy not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
En is breathing heavily.

Tim Kennedy has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Kennedy misses with a jab, cross combination.

En gets caught flat footed, as Kennedy shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
En will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Kennedy stands up and waves to En to follow him.

Kennedy throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. En was covering up waiting for the punch and Kennedy finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Kennedy gets to his feet. En looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kennedy decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on En, up you get!

Kennedy bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Kennedy's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Kennedy thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Kennedy decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Kennedy shoots in and bounces En off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
En striking off his back but it's not causing Kennedy any problems.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Kennedy looks for the body kick but En saw that one coming.

Kennedy thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
En takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Kennedy postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. En looks a forlorn figure.

Poor strikes thrown by Kennedy there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

En is fighting off a takedown attempt but Kennedy is just too persistent for him and manages to trip En to the mat. En regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Tim Kennedy showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Kennedy has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
