Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rick Ruude (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lenny Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rick Ruude!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lenny Martin!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, David Schapiro and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Martin closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Ruude's guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Martin wants to pass the guard but Ruude is keeping the position.
Martin preventing the sweep.
Ruude has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Ruude can't keep his opponent in guard - Martin advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Martin takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Martin is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Ruude has managed to free his arm - good work.
Martin is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Ruude wants to control but Martin is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Martin performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Ruude is trying desperately to improve position.

Martin goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Ruude turns into him and now he's in Martin's guard.

Ruude wants to sweep here but Martin controlling him for the moment.
Martin tries to free his leg and advance position but Ruude is retaining full guard.
Martin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Ruude wriggles free and stands up.
Ruude closes the distance and clinches up with Martin, looking for a takedown. Ruude pushes Martin against the cage but Martin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Martin tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ruude was well out of range. Poor timing from Martin.
Ruude throws a looping overhand right but Martin ducks down to avoid it.
Martin finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Martin scoring well with a low kick there.
Martin thumps Ruude with a low kick.
A head kick from Martin lands but Ruude takes it in his stride.
Martin goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ruude swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Lenny Martin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Martin scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Ruude throws a shot from downtown. Martin moves away and avoids it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lenny Martin dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Martin throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Ruude throws a jab when Martin was well out of range.
Ruude throws a big shot that misses.
A decent looking cross lands there for Ruude.
Martin throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Martin misses with a wild combination.
Ruude takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Ruude stuffs the takedown.
Ruude bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Martin's head backwards.
Ruude lands a head shot.


It looks like Lenny Martin has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Martin takes a swing at Ruude's ribcage but misses.
Ruude shoots in for a takedown but Martin shows good takedown defense.

Ruude throws out a loose jab but Martin uses good head movement to avoid it.
Ruude takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Martin throws a sloppy head kick and Ruude moves out of range easily.

Martin misses with a takedown attempt - Ruude sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Martin loads up on a big right hand but Ruude slips the punch.
A lazy left from Ruude finds it's target.
Some bone on bone action there as Ruude checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Ruude is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Nice straight punches there by Ruude. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Ruude.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ruude tries to work over Martin's front leg with a kick but Martin checks it.
Martin scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Martin fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Ruude has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Martin attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Martin looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Rick Ruude has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lenny Martin.
Martin tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ruude sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Martin somewhat.

Ruude throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Ruude fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Ruude leaves Martin with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Martin is breathing heavily.
Ruude misses with a looping right.
Martin throws a leg kick but Ruude moved away.
Ruude is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Martin ducks under a wild hook from Ruude.

and Martin counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Ruude is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Nice takedown defense from Martin. No joy for Ruude on that attempt.

Ruude fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Martin manages to avoid it.
Ruude displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Martin.
Martin tries to land a front kick but Ruude steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Martin throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Martin throws a wild body kick that Ruude sees coming a mile off.

Ruude chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Martin can pounce on him.

Rick Ruude has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lenny Martin.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Martin thows a body kick. Ruude tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Ruude avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Ruude shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Ruude was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Ruude goes for an armbar but Martin turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Martin.
Ruude will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Ruude looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Martin has gone for a leg lock! Ruude slips out almost immediately though and dives into Martin's guard.
Ruude is looking to work some ground and pound but Martin has wrist control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Martin lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Ruude!

Martin is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Ruude has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Ruude!
Martin takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Martin looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ruude is one step ahead there.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
