Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Frank Sherman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and DJ Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Penn has chosen Til I Collapse as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Frank Sherman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, DJ Penn! The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Taro Takaoka and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sherman steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Penn. A lazy left from Sherman finds it's target. Sherman shoots for a takedown but Penn saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Sherman looks to land a left hand but Penn moved out of range nicely. Penn looks to throw the jab but Sherman is out of range. Penn swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Penn walks into a straight right hand from Sherman. Sherman looks to land a right hand but Penn moved out of range. Sherman connects with a body shot that sends Penn's belly button to the back. Sherman throws a push kick but Penn slaps the foot to one side. Penn avoids the body shot from Sherman.
That's one minute gone in the round. Penn blocks a leg kick. Penn keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

and Penn counters with a left and a right that stings Sherman. Penn looks to score with a jab to the body but Sherman is just out of range. Penn showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Sherman.

He's got his arms around Penn's waist but Penn gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sherman off to one side. Penn works Sherman's body with a nice hook. Penn connects with a body shot that sends Sherman's belly button to the back. Penn leaves Sherman with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frank Sherman. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sherman avoids the body shot from Penn.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Sherman throws a right and a left that Penn avoids nicely. Sherman throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Penn sees it coming and avoids it easily. A big left from Sherman misses. Penn tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Sherman was well out of range. Poor timing from Penn. Sherman stuns Penn with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Sherman takes a shot right to the bread basket. Sherman pushing out the jab but it's not landing. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Sherman finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Sherman throws a nice looking combination but Penn bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Penn avoids the body shot from Sherman.
Penn is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Sherman rather than just go for the knockout. Sherman misses with a hook. Penn ducked under it nicely. A looping hook to the body misses from Sherman. Penn does a little dance to reset his feet. Penn throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Sherman scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Sherman in side control, just content to control the action for now. Sherman wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Penn, who protects the arm well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Penn tries to bench press Sherman off him but Sherman keeps the position. Sherman throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Penn manages to get back to half guard. Penn looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Sherman passes to full mount! Penn manages to regain half guard. Good work. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Sherman is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Penn has managed to free his arm - good work. Penn wants to improve his position but Sherman is controlling well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Penn moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Penn being controlled here, momentarily. Penn looking to control.
Sherman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Penn swivels though and keeps the full guard. Sherman wants to control from the top but Penn keeps moving.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Penn wants to sweep here but Sherman controlling him for the moment. Sherman wants to pass the guard but Penn is keeping the position. Frank Sherman is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Penn is on top in guard.

And that's the end of the fight! Frank Sherman showed his dominance in that final round. Well Sherman has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
