Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Eric Northwood! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 16 - 0, fighting out of London, Chris Lappin! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Sam Margolis and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Northwood clinches up against the cage. Lappin looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Lappin is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Northwood gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Northwood is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Lappin can't fight it off and eventually Northwood manages to take the fight to the floor. Lappin looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Northwood landing with the ground and pound. Northwood stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lappin swivels though and keeps the full guard. Northwood throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Lappin works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Lappin keeping moving, preventing Northwood from controlling successfully. Northwood looking to control the position here, rather than advance. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Northwood advances to half guard. Lappin taking some punishment here, with Northwood in his half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Northwood works his way into full mount! Northwood tries to control but Lappin wriggling away. Northwood is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Lappin has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Northwood with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Northwood pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Northwood wants to finish this one by submission but Lappin is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Northwood. Northwood lands a big elbow. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Northwood working Lappin over with strikes here. Northwood throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Lappin has his hands clasped together but Northwood breaks the hold and Lappin is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Northwood!
