Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Cory Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Chimpo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chimpo is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: On The Darkside. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Smith feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Chimpo's calf.
Chimpo misses with a leg kick.
Chimpo thows a left - swing and a miss!
Smith checks a low kick from Chimpo.
Smith attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.

Smith pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Chimpo back to the cage. Smith follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Smith tries to land a front kick but Chimpo steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Smith fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Chimpo manages to avoid it.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Smith lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Chimpo has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Chimpo and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Chimpo connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Good leg kick by Smith there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Smith shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Chimpo sprawls well. Chimpo wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Smith gets slowly back to his feet.

Smith leaves Chimpo with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Smith really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Smith is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Chimpo.

Chimpo is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.

That's time! Smith's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Smith here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Chimpo postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Smith is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Chimpo, into his guard.

Chimpo throws and elbow that misses. Smith uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Chimpo's guard. Nice move by Smith!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Chimpo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Smith drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Smith jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Chimpo's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

Chimpo throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Chimpo throws a solid leg kick but Smith takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Chimpo.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
