The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lynch swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Carvalho shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lynch as he avoids it easily.
Lynch misses with a double jab.
No joy there for Lynch, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
John Lynch seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Lynch!
A left and a right from Lynch both land. Nice combination.
Carvalho tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Lynch swivels and escapes.
Carvalho shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Lynch but Lynch pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andrew Carvalho. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Carvalho is trying hard to land a takedown here. Lynch sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Carvalho tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Carvalho has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Carvalho has hold of Lynch's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Lynch tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Carvalho cranks the arm and Lynch screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Lynch, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:03 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Andrew Carvalho!
A very excited looking Andrew Carvalho rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
