The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roman fails with the takedown.
Roman looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Roman is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Nunes Velicka's half guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Roman thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Roman unloads with some shots from mount but Nunes Velicka bucks and avoids them well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nunes Velicka wants to hold on but Roman pushes him away.

Roman is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

Roman closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Nunes Velicka really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Roman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Roman throws some wild stikes that Nunes Velicka manages to avoid easily.
Roman postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Nunes Velicka looks a forlorn figure.

That has opened up Diego Nunes Velicka's cut even more.
Roman lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Diego Nunes Velicka's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Roman is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Nunes Velicka can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Diego Nunes Velicka's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
