PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jack Walley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rhet Bart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Walley comes to the cage accompanied by Funktasztikus - Finnugor Rap. Bart is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by My Name Is Not A Pun by The Generic Indie Band 28. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rhet Bart!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Eddie Farnsworth and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bart shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Bart moves into side control, avoiding the strikes from Walley.
Walley manages to work his way to half guard, despite Bart's best efforts.
Walley is looking for a sweep. Bart is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bart stalling.
Walley is looking to improve his position.
Walley gets full guard.
Walley wants to hit a switch here but Bart passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Walley there!

Bart has hold of Walley's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Walley manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bart wants to take his opponent's back but Walley doesn't allow it.
Bart manages to capitalize on a mistake by Walley to take his back!

Bart is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Walley trying to get back to his feet but Bart is in full control for now.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Walley tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Walley tries to reverse the position but Bart maintains control.

Bart fails to advance to Walley's back.
Walley is working to get back to half guard.

Bart has control of Walley's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Walley regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Walley sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Bart is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Walley defends it well.
Bart prevents Walley from standing back up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Bart is tying to control. Walley wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Walley regains full guard. Nicely done.
Walley wants to sweep but no luck.

Bart stands and steps away. Walley gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Bart blocks a head kick by Walley.

Bart has Walley up against the cage in a clinch.
Bart working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Bart avoids the elbow strike from Walley, against the cage.
Walley creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Walley looking to slow down the pace here.
Walley trying to land knees to the body.
Walley with a knee to the head.
Walley takes an elbow to the temple.
Walley takes a knee right on the jaw!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rhet Bart dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Walley gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Walley has his foot on Bart's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bart works his way back into a safe position though.
Bart passes into half guard under a barage of strikes.

Bart is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The fighters are battling for position here. Walley manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Walley is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Walley keeping moving, preventing Bart from controlling successfully.

Bart won't allow Walley to sweep him here.
Walley is striking off his back. Bart thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.
Bart is keen to just control but Walley is a slippery customer.
Walley is trying to get back to full guard.
Walley flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Bart shoots in but Walley avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Walley darts in trying to clinch

and Bart counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Bart.

Walley manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Bart is desperately trying to improve his position but Walley has a good base and remains in mount.

Walley is looking to pass Bart's guard but actually Bart recovers to full guard.

Walley wants to pass the guard but Bart is keeping the position.
Walley is fighting to break Bart's control of his arms but Bart is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Bart is looking for a triangle but Walley pushes his legs off easily.
Bart keeping full guard, as Walley tries to pass.
Walley trying to move into half guard but instead Bart has managed to sweep!

Bart stands and steps away. Walley gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Rhet Bart showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Walley tries to clinch up but Bart circles away and keeps his distance.

Bart shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Walley pushes Bart off and scrambles back to his feet.
Walley throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Bart counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Walley!
Walley sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Bart prevents Walley from improving his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bart takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Walley manages to get to full guard.
Walley manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Walley lands a big shot there that rocks Bart but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Walley looking to finish Bart with some ground and pound. This is bad for Bart!

Walley is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Bart has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Bart!

Walley gets back to full guard.
Walley manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Bart is trying to escape the mount.

Walley is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Bart is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Bart flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Walley anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Bart and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Walley slips an arm under Bart chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Walley has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Walley is squeezing on Bart like an anaconda would it's prey. Bart fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:43 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jack Walley!
