PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Josh Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Clyde Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Miller comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Sea of Madness kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miller scores with a shot to the body.
Jackson shoots in but no luck this time.
Jackson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Jackson stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Miller.
Miller buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Miller throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jackson tries to clinch up but Miller circles away and keeps his distance.
Jackson misses with a takedown attempt - Miller sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Jackson is breathing heavily.
Miller's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Miller duly obliges.

Miller fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Horrible takedown by Jackson or perhaps it was just good defense by Miller which made him look bad.
Miller lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Jackson backs up against the cage.
Danga de danga de dang - Miller scores with a four punch combination!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Miller throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Jackson's head.
Miller pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Jackson back to the cage. Miller follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Miller throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Miller plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

Miller lands a head kick. Jackson smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Clyde Miller is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Jackson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Miller sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jackson somewhat.
Miller misses with a series of wild punches.
Miller tries to bum rush Jackson with a series of wild strikes but Jackson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Miller swats away the attempt to clinch by Jackson.

Jackson shoots in and bounces Miller off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Miller is on top in guard.

Jackson working for submissions but it's allowed Miller to get to half guard.
Miller moves nicely into side control.
Jackson tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Miller presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Miller controlling the pace for now.
Jackson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Miller controlling the position easily from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Miller tries to bum rush Jackson with a series of wild strikes but Jackson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Jackson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Jackson just content to control the position.
Miller gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Miller wants to improve his position but Jackson is controlling well.

Miller is refusing to be controlled, as Jackson sits in half guard.
Jackson works his way into side control.

Jackson stands up.

Miller throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Some wild striking there from Miller.
Jackson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Miller as he jumps to the side.

Jackson moves into the clinch.
Miller landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Miller connects with a knee to the head.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Miller's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Miller closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Miller throws a series of punches but Jackson moves out of range.

Miller lands a leg kick that knocks Jackson off balance momentarily.
Jackson showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Miller.
Miller lands with a slapping head kick.
Jackson fails with the takedown.
Jackson has a takedown stuffed.

Miller tests Jackson's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Jackson shoots in for a double leg but Miller sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Jackson is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Miller.
Miller lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Miller.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Miller scores with the left hand. Jackson knows he should have avoided that one.
Jackson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Miller swivels and escapes.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Jackson.
Miller lands a two punch combo.
Jackson takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Miller is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Miller throws a right and a left that Jackson avoids nicely.

Jackson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jackson lands in his opponent's guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jackson missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Clyde Miller showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Miller throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Jackson has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Jackson takes a kick to the side of the head.
Miller scoring well with a low kick there.
Jackson takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Miller has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Jackson shoots in but no luck this time.

Jackson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Miller looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Jackson prevents Miller from escaping the position.

Jackson decides to take the fight back to the feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Jackson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Jackson showed some decent athleticism there.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Jackson is stalling here. Miller is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Jackson seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Miller has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Miller decides to stand back up.
Miller lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Jackson avoids a punch combination nicely.
Miller lands a head kick. Jackson smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Miller scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Jackson fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Miller to the ground. Jackson is now in Miller's guard.

Miller avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Jackson trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Miller is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Jackson loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Jackson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Josh Jackson wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Jackson fails with a takedown attempt.
No joy there for Miller, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Clyde Miller is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Miller throws a head kick that half lands.
Jackson wants to clinch.
Jackson is trying hard to land a takedown here. Miller sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Josh Jackson.
I think Miller has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
