Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Aurelliano Bustamante!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Juan Tamad!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Ren Mimura and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bustamante tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Tamad is able to avoid easily.
Tamad throws out a leg kick but Bustamante moves out of range and Tamad only half commits.

Bustamante drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Bustamante wants to stand but Tamad is controlling his arm.

Bustamante tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Bustamante stands up.
Bustamante throws a head kick but Tamad moves out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tamad stuffs the takedown attempt from Bustamante. Bustamante gets slowly back to his feet.
Bustamante tries to clinch but Tamad is having none of it.

and Tamad counters with a shoot takedown. Bustamante fights it but they end up in guard.
Tamad controls from within his opponent's guard.
Tamad really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bustamante. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Juan Tamad.
Bustamante misses with a takedown attempt

and Tamad counters with a single leg into guard. Bustamante didn't expect that.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Aurelliano Bustamante. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Tamad controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Let's hope that Tamad has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Tamad throwing strikes from guard but Bustamante blocks nicely.
Tamad tries to free his leg and advance position but Bustamante is retaining full guard.

Bustamante doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Tamad throws a sloppy strike and Bustamante has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Tamad is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Bustamante!
