Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Hemangio Blastoma!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Manuel Soto!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Robert Douchet and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blastoma throws a series of strikes that have Soto backpedaling.
Blastoma lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Soto fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Blastoma slaps away a takedown attempt from Soto, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Soto will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Hemangio Blastoma has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Manuel Soto.
Blastoma connects with a high kick.
It looks like Manuel Soto has been cut.
Soto shoots in but Blastoma avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Soto fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Blastoma to the ground. Soto is now in Blastoma's guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Soto drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Soto jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Soto drops back looking for a leg! Blastoma is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Blastoma manages to kick Soto off! Soto jumps back into Blastoma's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Blastoma preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Blastoma has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Soto has passed into side control.
An elbow from Soto crashes against the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Soto has hold of Blastoma's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Blastoma seems comfortable defending it but Soto has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Blastoma is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Blastoma is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Soto couldn't care less - he's delighted!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Manuel Soto!
