Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jon Tate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tim Horton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tim Horton has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Jon Tate's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jon Tate! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tim Horton! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Winston Howard and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tate slaps away a takedown attempt from Horton, before circling back to the center of the mat. Horton misses with a body shot.
Tate will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
No joy there for Tate, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Horton fails in his attempt to clinch. Horton throws a right and a left that Tate avoids nicely. Tate avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A looping hook to the body misses from Tate. Horton does a little dance to reset his feet. Horton shoots and misses and Tate counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Tate lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Horton misses with a straight left. Tate throws a leg kick which misses Horton's front leg but catches the back leg as Horton tries to avoid it. Horrible takedown by Horton or perhaps it was just good defense by Tate which made him look bad. Jon Tate has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tim Horton. Good standup being displayed there by Tate as he connects with a hook. Horton misses with a few strikes there.
Horton is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Tate.
It looks like Tim Horton has been cut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Horton tries to bum rush Tate with a series of wild strikes but Tate uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Horton has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Tate finds it's way round the side to connect with Horton's head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Horton fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Tate catches Horton with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Horton rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Tate moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Tate smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Horton throws a right and a left that Tate avoids nicely. Tate lands a glancing blow to the side of Horton's head. Tate lands a jab-cross combination. Horton swinging wildly here.
Horton looks gassed! Tate lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Horton circles away quickly and effectively. Tate shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Tate lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Horton looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Horton is refusing to be controlled, as Tate sits in half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Horton is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Tate working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tate wants to lay and pray for a moment but Horton keeps working.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jon Tate. Nice sprawl there from Horton as Tate shoots in. Some wild striking there from Horton.
Tate circles away from the clinch attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tate with a hook. Horton throws a series of punches but Tate moves out of range. Tate rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Horton moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Horton tries to clinch but Tate is having none of it. Tate lands with a nice combination. Horton backs away looking to recover. Horton loads up on a big right hand but Tate slips the punch. No luck for Horton with that takedown attempt. Tate misses with a few strikes there.
Horton looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Tate lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Tate bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Tate scores with the left hand. Horton knows he should have avoided that one. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Tate circles away from the clinch attempt and Tate counters with a straight right hand. Tate closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Horton's guard. Tate postures up in Horton's guard and throws a big left but Horton blocks it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jon Tate dominated that round. The cut man is working on Tim Horton's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Good shot there by Tate. Tate slips a jab and a cross from Horton.
Horton misses with a two punch combination.
Tate drives through with a takedown into guard. Horton looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Tate trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Tate connects with a couple of short punches. Horton tries to land a sweep but no joy. Horton looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Tate has picked Horton up and slammed him! Horton can't keep hold of the triangle and Tate manages to pass to side control! Tate scores with punches from side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tate cracks Horton with a big elbow.
That has opened up Tim Horton's cut even more. Horton is breathing heavily. Tate is looking to take a break and control but Horton is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Tate working the ground and pound.
The cut above Tim Horton's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Tim Horton's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:03 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Jon Tate!
