Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.

The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Thiago Cunha and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A momentary lapse in concentration from Bird enables Rodrigo to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Bird manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Bird preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Rodrigo works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Bird should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Rodrigo wants to free his trapped foot but Bird is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Rodrigo stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Bird to get to his feet.
Rodrigo shoots in and gets a takedown into Bird's guard.
Rodrigo not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rodrigo is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Julius Rodrigo.
Bird gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Rodrigo to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rodrigo tries to free his leg and advance position but Bird is retaining full guard.
Bird can't keep his opponent in guard - Rodrigo advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Rodrigo works his way into side control.
Rodrigo staying calm.

Rodrigo stands up and beckons Bird to his feet.
Rodrigo closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Bird quickly recovers to half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Rodrigo seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Bird for as long as he can get away with.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
You get the feeling that Bird really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Rodrigo throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Bird has his hands clasped together but Rodrigo breaks the hold and Bird is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Rodrigo!
