8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ron James! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Reed Andrews and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! James misses the shot to the body. Luongo looks to score with a jab to the body but James is just out of range. James lands a jab to Luongo's midsection. James rushes Luongo and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Luongo has James pressed against the cage.

Luongo tries for a takedown but James manages to get underhooks.

James lands with a short shot to the head. Luongo gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. James is looking to improve his position.

James is trying to get back to full guard. Luongo is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, James has managed to free his arm - good work. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. James looking for submissions off his back. Luongo is looking to take a break and control but James is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Luongo is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and James defends it well. James trying to control here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. James looking for submissions off his back. Luongo trying to control the action but James is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Luongo is sneakily working for an arm triangle but James sees it coming and defends easily. Luongo is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Luongo seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but James does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. The fighters are battling for position here. James manages to regain full guard. Nice work. James is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. James keeping moving, preventing Luongo from controlling successfully. Luongo stays in close to James's body and controls the position.

Luongo controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Luongo trying to control the position from guard on top but James is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Francesco Luongo has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Luongo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? James is fending him off so far but Luongo persists. Nope, James circles away and we're back to standing. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James thumps Luongo with a low kick. James fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Luongo manages to avoid it. No luck for Luongo with that takedown attempt. Luongo blocks the body kick.

That's one minute gone in the round. Luongo is trying to control James's posture but James avoids it. Luongo tries to bench press James off him but James keeps the position. A bit of a lull in the action here. Luongo takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
James wants to lay and pray for a moment but Luongo keeps working.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Luongo tries to improve position but can't. Luongo can't do much from the bottom here. James taking a breather here. Luongo taking a bit of punishment here - James scoring with strikes. James wants to control but Luongo is keeping him busy. James has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. A big right from James misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Luongo is defended easily by James. Ron James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. James fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Luongo manages to avoid it. Francesco Luongo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Luongo ducks under a wild hook from James. James ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Luongo moves away. James connects with a solid leg kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. James scores with a jab. James cracks a nice hook into Luongo's ribs. James swings away with a body shot that misses
and Luongo counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in James's guard now. James looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Luongo passes into half guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Luongo wants to take a breather but James is having none of it. Luongo tries to pass the half guard into mount. James knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ron James showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Luongo shoots for a takedown but James saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Luongo shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says James as he avoids it easily. James throws out a leg kick but Luongo moves out of range and James only half commits. James scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Luongo on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. James works Luongo's body with a nice hook.
That's one minute gone in the round. Good leg kick by James there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Luongo shoots in but James avoids the takedown attempt easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Francesco Luongo. That's going to take a lot out of him. James fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Luongo is out of range. James tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Luongo swivels and escapes. James misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Luongo slips under a jab.
That's two minutes gone in the round. James thows a body shot but no joy. James throws a quick inside leg kick. James misses with a straight right. Luongo has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from James. Luongo scores with a body shot.
James is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Luongo rather than just go for the knockout. James throws a leg kick but Luongo moved away. James throws an overhand right that lands on Luongo's shoulder, as Luongo tries to avoid the shot. The crowd cheers as James lands an impressive looking overhand right. Luongo doesn't seem phased though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Luongo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? James is fending him off so far but Luongo persists. Nope, James circles away and we're back to standing. James misses with the combination.
James is looking to slow Luongo down with leg kicks. Luongo leaves James with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. James swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. James throws a head kick but Luongo moves out of range.
That's four minutes gone in the round. James shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. James showed some decent athleticism there. James is trying to control the action in half guard but Luongo is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. James is thwarting Luongo's attempts to control the position. Luongo is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of James's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take James's back! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. James breaks Luongo's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Luongo keeping moving, preventing James from controlling successfully. James is pushing down on Luongo's leg trying to pass to half guard. Luongo is fighting to maintain full guard but James has managed to sneak the leg through.
And that's the end of the fight! Ron James comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well James has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Ron James! Ron James decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
