PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Darren Colby (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Blake Hansen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hansen has chosen Party Rock Anthem - LMFAO as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Darren Colby!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Blake Hansen!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Summer Carpenter and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Colby misses with a hook. Hansen ducked under it nicely.
Colby throws a hook but Hansen avoids it easily.
Colby looks to land a combination. Hansen sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Hansen shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Colby as he jumps to the side.
Hansen keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Colby.
Colby misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Hansen.
Colby misses with a hook. Hansen ducked under it nicely.
Hansen takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Colby stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Colby wants it to stay on the feet.
A combination from Colby does no damage.
Hansen keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Colby scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Hansen counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Colby's guard now.
Hansen is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Colby is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Hansen dives into side control.

Hansen wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Colby, who protects the arm well.
Colby knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hansen on the ground.
Colby wants to get back to his feet but Hansen drags him back down.

Hansen is trying to get an arm triangle but Colby is defending well.
Colby might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Colby pushes Hansen away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Hansen gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Hansen tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hansen has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Colby is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Colby is not content to let Hansen control the position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Colby is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Hansen is controlling him well.

Hansen decides to stand back up.
Colby throws a series of punches but Hansen avoids them all with ease.
Hansen keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Colby thuds his right hand into Hansen's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Colby swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Hansen.
Colby fails to land with a series of punches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Colby will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Colby lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hansen circles away quickly and effectively.

Colby lands a nice shot that snaps Hansen's head back.
Darren Colby is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Colby throws a hook to the side of Hansen's head but Hansen sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Hansen misses with a series of wild punches.
Hansen bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Colby lands a right hook to the body.
Colby throws a looping overhand right but Hansen ducks down to avoid it.
Colby ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hansen moves away.
Colby pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Hansen takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hansen.
Hansen is breathing heavily.
Hansen uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Colby.

Colby tries to clinch but Hansen is having none of it.

Colby throws a series of punches but Hansen avoids them all with ease.

Colby throws an overhand right that lands on Hansen's shoulder, as Hansen tries to avoid the shot.
Colby throws the left hand but Hansen avoids the punch easily.
Colby tries to bum rush Hansen with a series of wild strikes but Hansen uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Colby thuds a left hand into Hansen's body.

Colby throws a right and a left that Hansen avoids nicely.
Colby throws a hook but Hansen blocks it.
Hansen ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Hansen scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Colby is staying active underneath Hansen, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Hansen moves forwards but Colby connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Colby jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Sloppy strikes from Colby. Those never looked like landing.
Hansen shoots and misses
and Colby cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Hansen tries to move into range but Colby moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
The fighters circling - Colby throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Colby throws a series of punches but Hansen avoids them all with ease.

Colby gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Colby uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Colby is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hansen.
Hansen takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Hansen takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Colby throws the left hand but Hansen avoids the punch easily.
Colby lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hansen circles away quickly and effectively.

Hansen shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Colby's guard.
Colby wants to get back to his feet but Hansen is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Colby is wriggling around but Hansen manages to pass to half guard.
Colby pushes Hansen off looking to stand but Hansen dives back in and keeps control.

Hansen is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Colby sees it coming and defends easily.
Still in half guard, Hansen seems content to control.
Colby looks like he's trying to stand up.
Colby tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Hansen manages to move to mount!

Colby is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Blake Hansen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Darren Colby showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Colby, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Darren Colby spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a big arrogant.
