Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Thomas Raith! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Cristian Romero! The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Konstantin Menshow and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Romero gets the takedown into side control. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. The strikes coming from Romero are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Romero wants to lay and pray for a moment but Raith keeps working. You can see the frustration on Raith's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Romero trying to control the action but Raith is working from the bottom. Romero throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Romero working away. Romero in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
That's one minute gone in the round. Romero lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Raith down.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Romero lands a nice forearm strike. Romero working the ground and pound. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Romero advances nicely into full mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Romero can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Raith is looking to escape. Raith is trying to escape the mount.
You get the feeling that Raith really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Romero landing punches. Raith wants to control but Romero is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Romero is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Romero!
