Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rashid Magomedov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Raith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rashid Magomedov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Thomas Raith!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Sergei Dronov and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Raith shoots in but no luck this time.
Magomedov has his takedown stuffed
and Raith counters with a head kick. That will keep Magomedov thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Magomedov fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Raith to the ground. Magomedov is now in Raith's guard.
Magomedov is working Raith over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Raith not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Magomedov has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Magomedov gets to his feet. Raith looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Magomedov is defended easily by Raith.
Raith tries to clinch but Magomedov is having none of it.

Raith shoots in looking for a takedown but Magomedov manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Raith's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Raith avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

and Magomedov counters with a straight right hand.

Magomedov has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Raith is trying to keep an underhook but Magomedov manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Raith won't allow Magomedov to pass to mount.

Raith wants to control but Magomedov is having none of it.

Raith slaps away a takedown attempt from Magomedov, before circling back to the center of the mat.
No joy there for Magomedov, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Raith dives in and grabs Magomedov's left leg, looking for a takedown. Magomedov pushes down on Raith's head and hops out.

Raith gets to his feet - Magomedov follows without any prompting.

and Magomedov holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Raith blocks an elbow strike.
Raith tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Magomedov just stands there and leans against the cage.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Raith is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Magomedov doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Raith.
