Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Takanori Gomi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Z (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gomi comes to the cage accompanied by Scary. Z is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: New York. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Z has his foot on Gomi's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gomi works his way back into a safe position though.

Gomi postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Z escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gomi gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Gomi sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Z's guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Z is looking to control Gomi's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Z avoid being mounted?

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Gomi lands a nice short elbow.
Gomi slips a nice elbow through Z's hands, connecting with Z's forehead.

Gomi looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Z with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Z is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Gomi pulls his head out easily.
Gomi seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Gomi lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Z makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Z.
Gomi slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Z wants to sweep but no luck.

Gomi is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Z is looking for a triangle but Gomi pushes his legs off easily.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Z is in trouble now - Gomi has advanced to mount!
Z is trying desperately to improve position.
Z is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Z looks gassed!
Gomi lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Z is rocked!
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Z is squirming around, avoiding Gomi's attempts to control the action.
Z is still in real trouble! Can Gomi finish him?
Z is desperately trying to improve his position but Gomi has a good base and remains in mount.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Gomi drops a big elbow. That's hurt Z! More shots from Gomi and the ref steps in! The fight is over!
