Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roy Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Veliko Plamenov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Roy Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Veliko Plamenov!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Plamenov shoots in for a takedown but Jackson shows good takedown defense.

Plamenov pushes Jackson up against the cage in a clinch.

Jackson manages to break the clinch.

Jackson has managed to clinch.
Jackson letting Plamenov take a breather here.
Jackson gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Plamenov.

Jackson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Plamenov blocks a head kick by Jackson.
Jackson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Horrible takedown by Plamenov or perhaps it was just good defense by Jackson which made him look bad.
Roy Jackson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Veliko Plamenov.

and Plamenov decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Jackson's guard.
Plamenov is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Roy Jackson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Plamenov makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Jackson moves into range and clinches up with Plamenov.

Jackson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Plamenov fails with an attempt to clinch.
Plamenov fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
A punch combination from Jackson misses.

Plamenov looks for a takedown but Jackson sprawls well.
Plamenov shoots in for a double leg but Jackson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Jackson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Plamenov looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Jackson moves in looking to clinch but Plamenov pushes him off.
Plamenov shoots for a takedown but Jackson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Jackson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Plamenov moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Jackson tries to clinch up but Plamenov circles away and keeps his distance.

Jackson gets caught flat footed, as Plamenov shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Plamenov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jackson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Plamenov is looking to advance position but Jackson has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Plamenov tries to hold on but Jackson pushes him away.
Jackson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Plamenov tries to hold on but Jackson postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Plamenov manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Jackson blocks the strikes from Plamenov.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Roy Jackson will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Plamenov shoots in and bounces Jackson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Plamenov throws a strike but Jackson rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Jackson wants to stand up but Plamenov has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Plamenov wants to get back to full guard.
Jackson working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Plamenov is trying to maintain the position but Jackson is very close to passing his half guard.
Jackson controlling the action here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jackson postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Plamenov to stand up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jackson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Plamenov throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jackson's waist but Jackson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Plamenov off to one side.
Jackson is looking to clinch.
Plamenov lands a right hook to the body.

Plamenov gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Still in the clinch, Jackson scores with a nice short uppercut.

Jackson manages to break the clinch.
Nice sprawl there from Jackson as Plamenov shoots in.
Jackson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jackson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Veliko Plamenov has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Jackson gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Roy Jackson.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jackson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
