PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Craig Crogan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jakob Alexander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Crogan comes to the cage accompanied by Foster The People-Pumped Up Kicks. The crowd seem to be enjoying Alexander's choice of entrance music: All that Remains--Hold on. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jakob Alexander!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, John Kavanagh and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alexander tries to clinch there but Crogan circles away.

Crogan looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Alexander trying to hold on to Crogan's head to control him but Crogan postures up.
Well, if Crogan is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Craig Crogan.

Crogan has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Alexander uses from the top position.

Alexander is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Crogan is defended easily by Alexander.

Crogan closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Alexander did well to prevent Crogan getting side control.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Crogan has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Alexander can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Jakob Alexander has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Alexander wants to clinch up but Crogan keeps it at a distance.
Alexander throws a push kick but Crogan slaps the foot to one side.
Alexander tries to land a front kick but Crogan steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Craig Crogan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Alexander tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Crogan manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Alexander lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Alexander has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Crogan is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Alexander is trying to maintain a safe position but Crogan gets an underhook and turns Alexander into the cage.

Jakob Alexander showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Alexander throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Crogan tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Alexander is in Crogan's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
