Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Cart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Grant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Cart! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Thomas Grant! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cart scores with a takedown into Grant's guard. Grant wriggles free and stands up. Cart closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Grant did well to prevent Cart getting side control. Grant is trying to stand.
Nice strikes from Cart there. Cart is trying to control the action in half guard but Grant is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Grant is trying to stand.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Cart is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Grant sees it coming and defends easily. Cart wants to pass to mount but Grant is defending the position. Grant kicks off Cart and gets to his feet. Thomas Grant is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cart feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Grant is looking to stand up but Cart isn't so interested in that idea. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Cart with a nice head shot there. Cart passes into half guard. Grant is trying to stand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Grant looks gassed! Cart wants to lay and pray for a moment but Grant keeps working. Grant wants to get back to his feet. Cart is trying to control the action in half guard but Grant is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Grant is trying to stand.
Cart knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Grant on the ground.

Cart tries to pass to full mount but Grant defends it. Grant taking some punishment here, with Cart in his half guard. Cart works his foot free and advances to mount. Cart scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Grant?
Cart won't let Grant get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. Cart working for a guillotine from mount but Grant is in no mood to give up. Grant is trying to stand. Cart lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Grant hang on? Cart can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Grant is looking to escape.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cart fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Cart scoring with strikes but Grant is staying in there. Grant is in a horrible position here. Cart smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Grant somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet! Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Cart closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Grant did well to prevent Cart getting side control. Nice strikes from Cart there.

Cart landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Grant is trying to stand.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Cart lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Grant tries to kick Cart off but Cart keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Cart dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Cart looking for a takedown here - he's got it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Grant manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Cart throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Grant tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Cart is in Grant's guard. Cart loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Grant pushes Cart off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Cart manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Grant on his heels. He'll look to pass Grant's guard now, I'm sure. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Grant kicks Cart off and gets to his feet. No joy there for Grant, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Cart closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Cart lands in his opponent's guard. Grant has his feet on Cart's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Cart shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cart stops Grant from standing up. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Cart trying to control but Grant is working from the bottom. Cart content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Grant wants to stand and escape but Cart is having none of it.

Cart closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Cart working the body and head with strikes. Grant explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Grant gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Grant pushes Cart off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Cart looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Grant is trying to stand back up but Cart is controlling him

Cart darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Cart drops an elbow to the side of Grant's head. Cart is looking for a kimura here.
Grant manages to escape and get back to his feet! Cart throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Grant was covering up waiting for the punch and Cart finishes the takedown easily into guard. Cart prevents Grant from getting back to his feet. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cart trying to control but Grant is working from the bottom. John Cart overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Grant pushes Cart off and gets back to his feet.
Grant throws a right and a left that Cart avoids nicely. Cart shoots in and gets a takedown into Grant's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cart throws a big elbow that misses. Grant scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Grant lands a nice looking body kick. Grant throws a right hand that Cart ducks under and follows up with a left that Cart also avoids with ease. Grant gets caught flat footed, as Cart shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Grant has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Cart off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Cart stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Grant. Cart shoots in and gets a takedown into Grant's guard. Cart tries to free his leg and advance position but Grant is retaining full guard. Cart postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Grant is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Cart has Grant pressed against the cage, preventing Grant from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Grant working hard to break the clinch. Cart has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Grant clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Grant is trying to shake Cart off. He's managed it and has hopped back to his feet! Cart won't be happy about giving up the dominant position. John Cart seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cart shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Grant manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Thomas Grant has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! John Cart is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Cart postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
And that's the end of the fight! John Cart showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cart, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
