Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Pancho Pantera! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Roy Jones Jr! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones Jr misses with a series of wild punches.
Jones Jr avoids the head kick by Pantera.
Jones Jr shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Pantera counters with a takedown into side control. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Pantera controlling the position from side mount. Jones Jr tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Pantera presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Pantera is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet! Pancho Pantera seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Some wild striking there from Pantera.
Pantera throws a one two combo.
It looks like Roy Jones Jr has been cut.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pantera gets a double leg takedown into Jones Jr's guard. Pantera is stalling in the full guard. Jones Jr wants to sweep but no luck. Jones Jr looking for subs off his back but Pantera has passed one foot through into half guard.
Pantera with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Pantera is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Jones Jr sees it coming and defends easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pantera passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Jones Jr! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Pantera content just to control the position here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jones Jr tries to improve his position but Pantera has taken his back! Pantera has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Jones Jr tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Pantera pushes Jones Jr away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Pancho Pantera!
