The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sonnen doesn't manage to clinch there - Leonard Villan circles away.
The fight moves into the clinch position. Sonnen putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Leonard Villan in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. Leonard Villan taking a breather. Sonnen gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

Sonnen closes this distance looking for a takedown but Leonard Villan circles away. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Leonard Villan is defended easily by Sonnen. Sonnen closes the distance and pushes Leonard Villan back into the cage. Sonnen connects with a knee to the head.

Sonnen gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Sonnen wants a takedown.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Sonnen lands a nice elbow from the clinch. Leonard Villan takes an elbow to the temple. Leonard Villan takes a shot to the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sonnen tries to score a body lock takedown but Leonard Villan shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Leonard Villan fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Sonnen creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Leonard Villan's defenses. Sonnen lands an elbow inside that Leonard Villan shrugs off. Sonnen connects with a nasty looking knee right to Leonard Villan's face.
Leonard Villan is rocked! Sonnen manages to break the clinch.
Oh Leonard Villan is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! PhilippinesPaul Leonard Villan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Sonnen dives in and gets a big takedown. He lands in full mount and immediately unloads a series of heavy strikes! Leonard Villan has had enough and taps out.
