Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bob Paulson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Wiggins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Wiggins will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bob Paulson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, John Wiggins!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paulson throws a leg kick
and Wiggins makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Wiggins shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Paulson sprawls well. Paulson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Wiggins gets slowly back to his feet.
Wiggins tries to clinch there but Paulson circles away.
Wiggins shoots in for a double leg but Paulson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Wiggins doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Paulson counters by moving into the clinch.
Bob Paulson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Wiggins.
Wiggins has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Paulson avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Paulson has hold of one of Wiggins's legs. Wiggins is fighting the takedown attempt but Paulson gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Paulson stands and steps away. Wiggins gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Paulson closes the distance and pushes Wiggins back into the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Paulson jumps guard and drags Wiggins to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Wiggins tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Paulson swivels and escapes.

Paulson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Wiggins to the mat! Wiggins manages to get full guard.

Wiggins looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Paulson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Wiggins tries to sprawl but Paulson drives through with a takedown into half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wiggins is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Paulson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Wiggins can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Paulson controls the pace.
Paulson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Wiggins shoots in but Paulson avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Wiggins gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Paulson to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Paulson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Wiggins tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Paulson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Paulson in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Paulson is staying tight to Wiggins's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Wiggins managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Paulson.

Paulson is trying to get an arm triangle but Wiggins is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wiggins is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Paulson is controlling him well.

Bob Paulson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Paulson thows a huge punch but Wiggins dodges it nicely.
Wiggins is trying to escape back to his feet but Paulson uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Paulson decides to stand back up. Paulson steps back and let's Wiggins get back to his feet.
Wiggins misses with a head kick.

Wiggins gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Paulson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Wiggins can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Paulson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Wiggins manages to get himself to full guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Wiggins is pushing down on Paulson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Paulson is fighting to maintain full guard but Wiggins has managed to sneak the leg through.
Wiggins wants to lay and pray for a moment but Paulson keeps working.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Wiggins is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Paulson is just riding it out for now. Wiggins eventually gives up the hold.
Paulson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Paulson kicks Wiggins off and gets back to his feet.

Wiggins wants to control but Paulson is having none of it.

Paulson stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Wiggins fails with the takedown.

Paulson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Paulson is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Wiggins sees it coming and defends easily.
Wiggins wants to control but Paulson is keeping busy.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Wiggins moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Wiggins is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Paulson is aware though and is defending well.

Wiggins takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Paulson is looking to work some ground and pound but Wiggins has wrist control.
Paulson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wiggins swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Paulson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Wiggins is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Paulson has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Wiggins looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Paulson has picked Wiggins up and slammed him! Wiggins can't keep hold of the triangle and Paulson manages to pass to side control!

Paulson has picked Wiggins up - he's going for a ride! Paulson dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

John Wiggins has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Bob Paulson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well Paulson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
