Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mirzai Navozov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tsuyoshi Kohsaka! The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Igor Prikhodko and Illya Tyunina.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kohsaka closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Navozov quickly recovers to half guard. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Kohsaka content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Kohsaka passes to side control. Navozov takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Kohsaka has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Navozov is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Kohsaka controls the position. Navozov really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Kohsaka in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Kohsaka has an Americana. Navozov didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Kohsaka is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Kohsaka hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:01 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Tsuyoshi Kohsaka! Tsuyoshi Kohsaka seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
