Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steve Nicks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Taylo Ray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ray has chosen Layla as his entrance music. Steve Nicks has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ray misses with a left hand and Nicks counters with a stiff right hand.
It looks like Taylo Ray has been cut. Taylo Ray seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nicks keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Ray shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Nicks keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. It looks like Ray is going to stand back up.
Ray thows a huge punch but Nicks dodges it nicely.
Ray gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Nicks really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Nicks moves away from the strike by Ray. Nicks looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Ray loads up on a big right hand but Nicks slips the punch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ray takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Nicks darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Nicks wants to take a breather but Ray is having none of it. The fighters are battling for position here. Ray manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Ray has Nicks pulled in close to control his posture. Ray wants to sweep here but Nicks controlling him for the moment. Ray has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Nicks can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Ray looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Ray looks gassed! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Ray looking for a guillotine here but Nicks defends easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nicks wants to stand but Ray has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Nicks trying to control the position from guard on top but Ray is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Nicks won't allow Ray to sweep him here. Ray keeping moving, preventing Nicks from controlling successfully. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Steve Nicks. Horrible takedown by Nicks or perhaps it was just good defense by Ray which made him look bad. The fight stays on the outside here - Nicks looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Nicks takes a jab right on the kisser.
Ray drives through and clinches with Nicks against the cage.
Nicks escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nicks bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Excellent takedown into side control there by Ray. Nicks is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Nicks on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ray is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Nicks has escaped the position, nice work there. Ray is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Nicks is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Ray throwing strikes but Nicks manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. An elbow from Nicks crashes against the mat.
Ray manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Ray has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Ray slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Ray scores with a couple of body punches from the bottom.
Ray is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Nicks is aware though and is defending well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Taylo Ray dominated that round. The cut man is working on Taylo Ray's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Ray misses with a hook
and Nicks counters with a lovely shot to the body. Nicks throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Ray. Ray misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Ray connects with a right hand. Nicks shakes it off. Nicks shoots in but no luck this time. Nicks closes the distance but Ray moves to the side and Nicks takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Ray rushes Nicks and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Nicks looking to slow down the pace here. Nicks fails to pull guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Ray has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Nicks is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nicks goes for a takedown in the clinch but Ray prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steve Nicks. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ray has Nicks pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Ray pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Nicks tumbling to the mat - Ray dives into Nicks's guard. Ray distracts Nicks with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Ray wants to pass the guard but Nicks is keeping the position. Nicks knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ray on the ground. Ray missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Ray thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Ray with a flurry of punches that miss.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ray postures up in Nicks's guard and throws a big left but Nicks blocks it. Nicks is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Ray with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Ray trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Nicks has momentary wrist control but Ray slips an elbow through the middle. Ray with a nice head shot there. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Nicks looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ray is one step ahead there. Ray drops back looking for a leg! Nicks is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Nicks manages to kick Ray off! Ray jumps back into Nicks's guard. Ray postures up and lands a big shot to Nicks's brow.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ray throws a big right hand that misses. Ray loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Ray working some strikes from top position. Nicks controls Ray momentarily but Ray frees himself. Ray drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Ray seems to have locked his on tight now - Nicks screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Ray, as he picks up the win!
