Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Thien Dinh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mason is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: You Will Leave A Mark by A Silent Film. Thien Dinh could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Ryan Mason's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thien Dinh! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ryan Mason! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Daniel Cesar and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dinh looks for the body kick but Mason saw that one coming. Dinh fails miserably with a takedown attempt. No luck for Dinh with that takedown attempt. Mason tries to close the distance and clinch up but Dinh swats him away and circles back towards the center. Mason shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Dinh counters with a shoot takedown. Mason fights it but they end up in guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dinh drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Mason manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Dinh has Mason in his guard. Mason wants to pass the guard but Dinh is keeping the position. Mason postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mason stands up over Dinh, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Dinh looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mason is one step ahead there. Mason stops Dinh from standing up. Mason working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Dinh is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Dinh uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Mason. Dinh shoots in and bounces Mason off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Dinh trying to control but Mason is working from the bottom. Dinh is breathing heavily. Mason trying to control the position.
Mason looking for a guillotine here but Dinh defends easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dinh gets to his feet - Mason follows without any prompting. Mason gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Dinh counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Dinh content to control rather than advance. Dinh seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Mason for as long as he can get away with. Dinh is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Mason doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Dinh. Mason trying to control here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dinh blocks the strikes from Mason.
Dinh not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Dinh is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Mason is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Mason throws a combination that misses and Dinh counters with a nice double leg into guard. Mason wants to sweep but no luck. Mason trying to control the position here. Dinh pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mason is keeping the position for now. Dinh would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dinh trying to control the position from guard on top but Mason is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Mason looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Dinh won't allow Mason to sweep him here. Dinh decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Mason, up you get! Dinh tries for a takedown but Mason circles away easily and Mason counters with a nice double leg into guard. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Thien Dinh. That's going to take a lot out of him. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Dinh looking for a sweep. Not yet Dinh, not yet. Dinh pulls Mason in close to prevent any damage. Dinh is looking to stand up but Mason isn't so interested in that idea. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Thien Dinh dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Dinh shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. BOOM! Dinh connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Dinh looking to finish Mason with some ground and pound. This is bad for Mason! Mason is looking to improve his position but Dinh isn't that keen on the idea. Mason taking shots to the head. Dinh scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Thien Dinh overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Mason swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing. Mason is desperately trying to improve his position but Dinh has a good base and remains in mount. Dinh pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Dinh looking for a guillotine from mount but Mason is having none of it. Mason can't escape the position.
Mason is breathing heavily. Dinh dominating with strikes here. Dinh lands a heavy elbow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mason is squirming around, avoiding Dinh's attempts to control the action. Mason wants to hold on but Dinh pushes him away. Dinh fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Dinh jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Mason is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Mason and Dinh has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Dinh decides to stand back up. Dinh steps back and let's Mason get back to his feet. Mason has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Dinh. Dinh scores with the left hand. Mason knows he should have avoided that one. Dinh shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Dinh showed some decent athleticism there. Dinh trying to control the action but Mason is working from the bottom. Dinh wants to pass to mount but Mason is defending the position. Mason is trying to get back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mason is controlling Dinh's trapped leg to prevent Dinh from advancing to side control. Mason wants to get back to his feet.
Dinh scoring with strikes to the body and head. Dinh is keen to just control but Mason is a slippery customer. Dinh throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Dinh tries for a takedown but Mason circles away easily and Mason counters with a nice double leg into side control. Dinh won't be happy with that. You can see the frustration on Dinh's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Dinh manages to get back to half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Mason stops Dinh from getting back to his feet.
Dinh tries to roll over but Mason keeps him under control. Dinh keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dinh has one foot on Mason's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Nice sprawl there from Dinh as Mason shoots in. Mason gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily so Dinh counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Mason can't keep his opponent in guard - Dinh advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Mason tries to get to full guard but Dinh has control of the leg. Mason has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Dinh is working away from the top position though. Mason actively working from the bottom here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dinh throwing shots but Mason is blocking nicely. Mason looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Dinh pushes past his half guard into mount! Dinh lands with some strikes. Dinh trying to control but he's not successful this time. Dinh goes for an armbar but Mason turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Mason. Mason trying to control the position from guard on top but Dinh is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Mason is looking to work some ground and pound but Dinh has wrist control. Dinh looking for a sweep. Not yet Dinh, not yet. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Mason stands up and waves to Dinh to follow him. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage! Mason works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Mason creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Thien Dinh dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Dinh looks to land a combination but Mason avoids it well. Mason shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Mason was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Dinh tries to get back to half guard but can't. Dinh is working hard here to advance position. Mason is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Dinh can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Dinh tries to hold on but Mason pushes him away. Mason cracks Dinh with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
You get the feeling that Dinh really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Mason landing punches. Mason won't let Dinh get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. Dinh is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Mason takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

The fighters roll with the hold and Dinh manages to kick Mason off! Mason jumps back into Dinh's guard. Dinh controlling Mason's posture. Mason stops Dinh from standing up.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Dinh closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Dinh manages to break the clinch.
Mason shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Dinh counters with a nice double leg into side control. Mason won't be happy with that. Dinh is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mason is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Mason can't do much from the bottom here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mason sneaks back into half guard. Mason is looking to control Dinh's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Mason avoid being mounted? Mason punching from the bottom.
Dinh is figuring out what he wants to do next. Mason is trying to get back to full guard. Dinh is looking to take a break and control but Mason is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Mason avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Dinh. Mason works his way to full guard. Good work. Ryan Mason has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Dinh controls from within his opponent's guard. Mason pushes Dinh off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Thien Dinh. Well Dinh has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
