Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jambo Liddel! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sly Fox! The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Ren Mimura and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fox circles away from the clinch attempt.
Fox swats away the attempt to clinch by Liddel. Liddel gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Liddel has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Fox can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Fox is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Fox stands and throws Liddel's legs to the side, diving into side control. Liddel is trying to work for a sweep but Fox has mounted him! Fox manages to capitalize on a mistake by Liddel to take his back! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Liddel looking very determined here, making life difficult for Fox.
Fox is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Liddel showing good submission defense here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Fox doesn't have the hooks in and Liddel manages to turn into his guard.
Liddel trying to control but Fox is working from the bottom. Liddel stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fox swivels though and keeps the full guard. Liddel trying to control the position from guard on top but Fox is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Liddel postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Fox is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Liddel, into his guard. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Fox wants to control from the top but Liddel keeps moving. Fox chips away with some ground and pound. Liddel has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Fox should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Liddel has tightened it up now! Fox should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:03 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Jambo Liddel! Jambo Liddel decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
