Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chico Lockdown!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
6 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Evan D!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Ian Loll and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lockdown shoots for a double leg takedown but D sprawls well. He's pushed Lockdown's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Lockdown shoots in and drives through. D sprawls well.
Lockdown bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Lockdown swings around for an armbar but D sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Lockdown's guard.

D is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
D stands up from guard. Let's bang!

D stands up over Lockdown, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Lockdown working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. D doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. D manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

D would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Lockdown isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. D stacks Lockdown on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by D!
Lockdown manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Lockdown pushes D off looking to stand but D dives back in and keeps control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
D prevents Lockdown from improving his position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with D in particular looking to stall.

D is looking to stand up but Lockdown isn't so interested in that idea.

Evan D seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
D throws a sloppy head kick and Lockdown moves out of range easily.
Lockdown smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Lockdown misses with an uppercut. D saw that one coming.
Lockdown with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

D shoots in for a double leg but Lockdown sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

D throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Lockdown shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with D but D pushes him off and we're back to square one.

D walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
D tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Lockdown swivels and escapes.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from D.
D shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lockdown as he jumps to the side.
D changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lockdown tries to avoid it but D manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lockdown to the ground. Lockdown escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
D is breathing heavily.

Lockdown misses with a two punch combination.
Lockdown is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Lockdown pivots, looking for a leg kick but D is out of range and Lockdown settles back down.
D tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Lockdown swivels and escapes.
D shoots for a takedown but Lockdown saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Lockdown fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
D lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by D.
D shoots in for a takedown but Lockdown shows good takedown defense.
Lockdown shoots in and bounces D off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lockdown is working D over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Lockdown drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Lockdown jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Lockdown throws a strike but D rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

D must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Lockdown is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Lockdown is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but D still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, D has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

D takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
