PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Hippie Smasher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Lichti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smasher comes into the arena with Who's Your Daddy - Lordi blaring out of the sound system. Andrew Lichti is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andrew Lichti!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Stewart Dunkirk and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lichti circles away from the clinch attempt.

Smasher throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Lichtis head.

Smasher tries to score a body lock takedown but Lichti shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Lichti wants to break free but Smasher has control.

Smasher escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A right-left combo lands from Lichti.


Smasher is rocked!
Lichti tries to clinch up but Smasher circles away and keeps his distance.

Smasher rushes Lichti and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Lichti blocks an uppercut.
Lichti can't break the clinch.
Smasher keeps control of Lichti as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Lichti wants to break the clinch but can't.
Lichti prevents the takedown attempt.
A short body shot lands from Smasher as the two fighters clinch.

Smasher tightens his grip and picks Lichti up, before dumping him to the ground. Lichti manages to land in guard.
Smasher landing with the ground and pound.
Lichti looking to hit a scissor sweep but Smasher is one step ahead there.
Lichti is looking to stand up but Smasher isn't so interested in that idea.

Smasher seems to be working for a kimura but Lichti defends the submission attempt.

Smasher has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Lichti is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Smasher clinches up with Lichti and pushes him back against the cage.
Lichti wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Lichti walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Smasher checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Smasher breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Smasher lands a nice short elbow.
Smasher moves into full mount! Lichti won't be happy about that!

Lichti is rocked!
Smasher has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Lichti's face.
Lichti is still in real trouble! Can Smasher finish him?


It looks like Andrew Lichti has been cut.

Smasher is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Lichti is surviving well by controlling Smasher's body position as best he can.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Smasher jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Lichti manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Smasher connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Lichti some visible discomfort.
Smasher looks up at the clock and then as Lichti takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Smasher smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Smasher is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Lichti knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Lichti takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Lichti tries to improve position but can't.
Lichti is trying to get back to his feet.
Smasher is looking to take a break and control but Lichti is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Lichti tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Lichti takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Smasher in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Smasher lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Lichti down.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Smasher looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Lichti!
Smasher pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Andrew Lichti's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Smasher lands a big right hand! Lichti is out cold! This one is all over!
