Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eric Whartenby! The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Hugh Johnson and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Some wild striking there from Patterson.
Whartenby looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Patterson fails with an attempt to clinch.
Patterson is looking to clinch but Whartenby is avoiding it.
Fred Patterson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The fight stays on the outside here - Patterson looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Patterson takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
It looks like Fred Patterson has been cut. Patterson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Whartenby paws at him with a jab and circles away. Patterson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Patterson wants to clinch up but Whartenby keeps it at a distance. Danga de danga de dang - Patterson scores with a four punch combination! Whartenby fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Patterson sprawls well initially but Whartenby persists and gets the takedown into half guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! The fighters are battling for position here. Patterson manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Patterson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Whartenby doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Whartenby manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Patterson looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

That's one minute gone in the round. Patterson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Whartenby is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Patterson has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Whartenby is looking to defend but Patterson has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Whartenby! Patterson pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Whartenby taps out and this one is all over!
