Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Johnny Melaslavo! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gordon Ramyay! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Emerson Jorge and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Some wild striking there from Ramyay.
Melaslavo dives in and grabs Ramyay's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ramyay pushes down on Melaslavo's head and hops out. Ramyay clinches up with Melaslavo and pushes him back against the ropes. Ramyay with a knee to the head.
It looks like Johnny Melaslavo has been cut. Melaslavo tries to pull guard but Ramyay holds him up against the ropes and eventually Melaslavo drops back down to his feet.
Ramyay lands an elbow that stopped Melaslavo in his tracks for a moment. Melaslavo tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Ramyay just stands there and leans against the ropes. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnny Melaslavo. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ramyay lands a nice elbow from the clinch. Ramyay creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Melaslavo's defenses. Ramyay drops Melaslavo with a big knee straight up the middle! Melaslavo is covering up against the ropes but manages to escape and gets back to his feet!
Melaslavo is rocked! Melaslavo is breathing heavily. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Melaslavo tries to keep at a distance but Ramyay has taken the fight into the clinch. Oh Melaslavo is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Ramyay lands a nice elbow. Ramyay has Melaslavo pressed against the ropes. He pushes Melaslavo back and as he springs towards him off the ropes, Ramyay throws a beautiful elbow that sends Melaslavo crashing to the floor! Ramyay piles on the pressure with more strikes! Melaslavo is flailing away but he's not defending himself and the referee steps in to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gordon Ramyay! Gordon Ramyay retains his middleweight title!
