Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tzu Fxt! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cyril Kivel! The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Dean Styles and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kivel throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. A momentary lapse in concentration from Fxt enables Kivel to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Fxt manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Fxt wants to sweep here but Kivel controlling him for the moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Fxt working for a triangle but Kivel defends it easily.
Fxt bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kivel's guard. Fxt pushes down on Kivel's leg and manages to get into half guard. Kivel wants to improve his position but Fxt is controlling well.
Fxt is trying to control. Kivel wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Kivel is defending against the submission attempts here by Fxt.
Fxt is looking to advance position but Kivel won't allow it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kivel makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Kivel cracks the inside of Fxt's front leg. Kivel scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Kivel trying to control the action but Fxt is working from the bottom. Kivel decides to stand up, so the ref orders Fxt to his feet. Kivel throws a leg kick that misses. Kivel lands with a shot to the body. Fxt lands with a nice body kick. Fxt is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Kivel throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Kivel tries to clinch there but Fxt circles away.
Kivel takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Kivel moves into range and clinches up with Fxt. A short right hand to the side of the head by Fxt. Kivel blocks a body shot from Fxt. Kivel is trying to pull guard but Fxt has him pressed against the cage. Kivel lands a knee to the body.
Fxt tries to land a knee to the head but Kivel blocks with his arms.
Kivel's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Nice defenses there by Fxt. Kivel misses with a low kick.
Fxt connects with a jab.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fxt looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Kivel pulls Fxt in close to his closed guard and prevents Fxt from doing any damage or advancing position. Fxt wants to pass the guard but Kivel is keeping the position. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Kivel wants to improve his position but instead Fxt has moved into half guard.
Fxt is working for a kimura but Kivel is defending it quite comfortably.
Kivel tries to get to full guard but Fxt has control of the leg.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fxt is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Kivel is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Tzu Fxt! An out of breath Tzu Fxt thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
